Key Dates to RememberWeek 0 First day of last menstrual period 2 Conception 6-10 New-obstetrical patient visit 10-1 Heartbeat by doppler becomes possible 9-12 Chorionic Villus Sampling (CVS) - optional, offered to patients who will be 35+ at delivery 11-14 First trimester genetic screening for chromosomal abnormalities - optional 15-18 Amniocentesis for chromosome testing - optional, offered to patients who will be 35+ at delivery 16-18 Register for childbirth classes, usually to be taken at 28 to 32 weeks 18-20 Sonogram done (gender can usually be determined during this sonogram, if desired) 20 Insurance deposit due to Dr. Dullye's office 20 Completed hospital preadmission card submitted to hospital 24-28 Bloodwork: gestational diabetes screen, blood count, and antibody screen if Rh negative 28-30 Opportunity to meet Drs. Fogwell and Hunt 35-36 Group B strep vaginal culture done (weekly) and cervical examinations begin 40 Estimated due date (normal labor and delivery can occur any time from 37 to 41 weeks) |
